Retrospective US Presidential Election: 1892

Vote in the 1892 Retrospective US Presidential Election!

  • Total voters
    134
  • Poll closed .
I plan to run through every US presidential election, two per week. The 28 elections from 1789-1896 will be run simultaneously with the 28 elections from 1900-2008. Be sure to vote in each election!

For 1789-1800, I will include in the poll everyone who received at least 5% of the electoral vote. From 1804-2008, I will include everyone who received at least 0.05% of the popular vote. Results for each election will be posted on the dedicated Retrospective US Presidential Election Results Thread (here) and compared to the actual results. The thread for general project discussion is here.

Here's the link to the 2004 election.

Just a reminder, folks. This. In OTL, Simon Wing and Charles Matchett actually sought to abolish the presidency and vice presidency if they were elected.

I know  Muhahahaha!

But in all seriousness I'm going to assume that even if they win they're either not going to succeed or in a more fun twist we're voting for figurehead Presidents from this time on!

I voted for Weaver in '80 so I'm sticking with him in '92.The Populists are good for America!

Benjamin Harrison, for a return to Civil Rights and a less destructive view on Labor then the Democrats. Without the ridiculousness of the Populists and Socialists.

Given the Conservative nature of American governance I doubt Wing would be able to just abolish the presidency. I imagine he will instead push for a Constitutional amendment setting up a more semi-presidential system or a more parliamentary system. I for one don't mind early reform given how grossly powerful the presidency has become.

Wing for 92!
