As Dreamers Do Part Deux

So essentially, the Fleischer and Terry characters were split apart? Okay.

I could have sworn some Tex Avery characters, notably Screwy Squirrel, were also in the Fox Movietoon lineup. Has that been retconned out?

The Fleischer characters were actually licensed from other entities. Marjorie "Marge" Buell regained the rights to Little Lulu when Fleischer-Terry and Marge decided to part ways.

Also, Fleischer-Terry was in the middle of another royalty dispute with Ernie Bushmiller when the Nancy and Sluggo shorts weren't having the impact that Bushmiller would've liked.

So basically, Fleischer-Terry actually owned the OTL Terrytoons characters, who were then teamed up with the OTL Walter Lantz characters to form Famous Studios in 1953.

By the way, for those wondering about Howard Post's character Honey Halfwitch, who was voiced by Shari Lewis of Lamb Chop fame, she is owned by Peacock ITTL.

Popeye's rights were still held by King Features Syndicate, who still technically own the character even with Paramount and Universal sharing the multimedia license.

Fox still has Screwy Squirrel. They did have Red and McWolf for a while but when Fox was sold to Disney in 1975, Tex Avery regained the rights to Red and McWolf.

When Tex passed away in 1980, his family sold the rights to Red, McWolf and three shorts (Red Hot Riding Hood, Swing Shift Cinderella and Little Rural Riding Hood) to Turner Broadcasting. Later acquisitions and mergers reunited Red and McWolf with Tom and Jerry, Droopy and Spike and Tyke and together, they came to Paramount.

I knew that, but thanks.

I see.

That explains it.

Understandable.

Great.
Fox still has Screwy Squirrel. They did have Red and McWolf for a while but when Fox was sold to Disney in 1975, Tex Avery regained the rights to Red and McWolf.
Cool! I'd like to see if Screwy could be revived as well.

Later acquisitions and mergers reunited Red and McWolf with Tom and Jerry, Droopy and Spike and Tyke and together, they came to Paramount.
Something tells me that if his family held out for 3-4 more years, they could have capitalized on the Urusei Yatsura hype and sold it back to Disney. Just a minor thought.

So Famous Studios - TTL’s three way merger between Fleischer Studios, Terrytoons, and Walter Lantz Productions - produces OTL’s Walter Lantz cartoons, OTL’s Terrytoons, and OTL’s 1962-1967 Paramount cartoons. Whereas Fox’s Animation division produces the Harvey Comics cartoons and more select few like Little Audrey from Paramount Cartoon Studios of OTL. Correct?

Paul Lee
(Head of ABC Entertainment)

"Mr. Kimmel, we have learned that a young boy that was featured on your annual Halloween candy prank last October has committed suicide. He was only eight. Because of that, we have decided to cancel your show."

Jimmy Kimmel
(Host of
Jimmy Kimmel Live!)
***Proceeds to bawl his eyes out***
What happened here? What did Kimmel do in this prank?

Statement from ABC
February 12, 2010
"Today, we have fired Paul Lee effective immediately. This decision is based on a fake child suicide prank he pulled on Jimmy Kimmel earlier this week. As for Kimmel himself, he told us he will take a hiatus of at least two weeks to process the trauma he went through. Workplace pranks like this are not acceptable in any capacity. Period."
Oh my GOD!!!!!!!

I cannot believe this...............
And by "process the trauma he went through", he means "consult with my lawyers about a potential lawsuit against ABC."
I think I could see that happening.......I mean, if some prank like that was pulled on me, then I'd sue too.........
IOTL, this is an annual tradition on Jimmy Kimmel Live!

https://www.todaysparent.com/blogs/...s-parents-to-do-every-year-is-actually-cruel/

ITTL, ABC has already been receiving objections from child psychologists.
Oof..............
Mighty Mouse, Heckle and Jeckle, Gandy Goose, Sourpuss, Farmer Al Falfa and Oil Can Harry wound up at Peacock after a series of acquisitions and mergers.

Popeye, Betty Boop and Little Lulu wound up back at Paramount separately. Multimedia rights to Popeye and Little Lulu had been held by Turner Broadcasting since at least the late 1980’s before the TBS+Paramount merger. Felix the Cat also returned to Paramount in recent years after Don Oriolo became frustrated with TimeWarner sitting on the property after they picked it up as part of their purchase of Carolco.

The 20th Century-Fox Movietoon lineup consists of the major players of the OTL Harvey Comics:
Casper, Baby Huey, Little Audrey, Herman and Katnip, Tommy Tortoise and Moe Hare, Buzzy the Crow, Richie Rich, Little Lotta, Little Dot, Hot Stuff and Stumbo the Giant.
Some studios aren't doing anything major yet.

One exception is Paramount. A recent print ad in Animation Magazine suggests that Paramount will recreate the swirling star intros for each character like they had in the Popeye shorts of the Fleischer-Terry era.

Cool.

Something tells me that if his family held out for 3-4 more years, they could have capitalized on the Urusei Yatsura hype and sold it back to Disney. Just a minor thought.

ITTL, Disney bought Fox in July of 1975.

The Avery family regained the rights to Red Hot Riding Hood a year later. Tex developed Miss Vavoom for "The Wacky World of Tex Avery" just in case he was unsuccessful.

The Urusei Yastura manga didn't come out in Japan till 1978. And it wasn't till roughly five years later that BBC 2 started airing the anime in the UK in fall '82 and HBO launched it in the US in Spring '83.

So sadly, there wasn't any way the Avery family could anticipate the phenomenon that UY would become on premium cable.

So Elsa the Snow Queen, Miss Kitty Mouse (Basil of Baker St), Jessica Rabbit or April O'Neil you could say make up for Red's move from Pico Boulevard to Techwood Drive to Melrose Avenue.

Right, but I still feel like I'll need an OC to reopen Russia to the west. Unless there's a real OTL person that could be more pro-Western than Putin.

Questions submitted by @Mitch!

For what reason did Disney Enterprises want to build a hotel, and casino, on the Stardust site?

Answer: Walt, Jr. always wanted to give the Disney organization a stronger presence in Las Vegas. At one point IOTL, there was a Disney Store at the Forum Shops inside Caesar's Palace.

Was there a reason Calgary chose to call its NHL and IHL teams the Bandits and the Hitmen?

Answer: The Bandit name came from Calgary's wild west heritage. The Hitmen name came from pro wrestler Bret "The Hitman" Hart, who is a Calgary native. As of the 2009-10 season, the Bandits and Hitmen merged under the Hitmen name and are still part of the NHL, where they maintain the Alberta rivalry with the Edmonton Oilers.

Could the design of the dome, over Peacock’s new Henderson park, be based on NBC’s logo?

Answer: That's the plan this whole time. It'll be basically a west coast version of Islands of Adventure.

In which ways have LSU, and Tennessee, celebrated Urusei Yatsura Night, at Tiger Stadium?
Answer: LSU's athletic director Joe Alleva heard Gus St. Pierre's story of watching Urusei Yatsura at a Baton Rouge motel that had HBO for free on a Friday night before an LSU home game in 1985. LSU is the alma mater of Gus's late uncle Andre Boudreaux, who graduated in the early Seventies as an engineering major.

Should Peacock look to bring an updated version of Star Trek: The Experience to Henderson?

Answer: Yes. Except the updated attraction will be based on the current Kelvin timeline, with Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto headlining the attraction's storyline.

How do the makers of the DCMCU, and Popeye the Sailor Man, split their respective profits?

Answer: Fox and Columbia each take 49.5% of the DCMCU. For Popeye, Peacock and TBS+Paramount each take 40% while the other 20% is received by King Features Syndicate, who still technically own the Popeye characters. In 1990, Disney received 75% while Mirage Studios kept 25% of the grosses from the first TMNT live action movie. In 2012, Paramount and Mattel will split the potential profits of the upcoming Barbie movie by 49.5% each.

Something tells me that if his family held out for 3-4 more years, they could have capitalized on the Urusei Yatsura hype and sold it back to Disney. Just a minor thought.

The other reason I forgot to mention that Tex regained the rights to Red before he died was that he was concerned about the character being potentially toned down to fit in with Disney's family-friendly image at the time.

But of course, since then, the Henson company is the more family-friendly brand while Disney has pivoted towards catering to the "Disney Adult" under Walt Jr's supervision.

You mean Kim Jong Nam?

Also, there's gonna be an extremely tough bidding war over which American chain would be the first to invest in Cuba since the embargo was lifted. Provided of course that the Castro family is no longer in power and that someone else is welcome to reopening Cuba to American interests.

I don't think disney or universal Parmount would build in cuba because they perfer to build big regional parks and there have parks in florida which is kinda of close to cuba. I feel that Six Kings and Warner are most likely to build in cuba. Bally is also an option but they are currly bussy with world of wonder japn
